Heart Like a Pow Wow

Heart Like A Pow Wow explores the depths of grief from an Anishinaabe perspective of love and family. Viewers are called to witness Spirit as they shift to physical form while embodying the love that precedes grief and inevitably foreshadows it.

Directed by Chief Lady Bird

Chief Lady Bird is a Chippewa and Potawatomi artist from Rama First Nation and Moosedeer Point First Nation. She’s currently based in Rama and works out of a private studio. A graduate of OCAD University (2015) with a BFA in Drawing and Painting with a minor in Indigenous Visual Culture, she uses various mediums to empower and uplift Indigenous folks through the subversion of colonial narratives, shifting focus to contemporary realities and Indigenous Futurisms by creating space to discuss the nuances of our experiences. Her work is a catalyst for reimagining our relationships to the land, each other and ourselves.
