Red Nation Celebration Institute is proud to announce our Native Women Write 2023 program, along with our partners AMC Networks, National Endowment for the Arts and Albuquerque Film Office. Native Women Write program recognizes and encourage emerging Native and Indigenous women writers and provides an opportunity for three awardee(s) to continue growing their skills in the unique craft of screenwriting for independent film and television Native Women Write is a one-year program between AMCN (and its subsidiary SVOD Network, ALLBLK) and Red Nation Celebration Institute that awards cash prizes, mentorship, and comprehensive support to systemically underrepresented Native and Indigenous women screenwriters.
This unique partnership will amplify and impact the next level of Native and Indigenous women writers in film and television.
March 5th during the 14th annual Native Women in Film & Television Festival, three talented screenwriters will pitch their scripted projects to an esteemed team at AMCN of industry professionals and RNCI team to decide who will be 1st place winner, held virtually.
Participating winners receive extensive exposure for their stories through dedicated content with industry and audiences alike, with stories that have been under-represented for decades, these stories are relatable and Native and Indigenous content proven to be bankable with stories like Dark Winds, Reservation Dogs, Prey, Wild Indian, Night Raiders, The Body Remembers When the World Broke Open! This is a whole new market for the film and television industry alike.

A panel of AMC executives and Red Nation Celebration Institute team will review entries.
Submissions must be solely owned and created by the respective applicants. This program prefers to recognize the work of an individual writer.
The top 3 writers selected from this year’s Native Women Write will meet with AMCN & RNCI executives, with the first prize winner receiving an exclusive opportunity with AMC Networks, and second and third with cash prizes.
All three selected writers will be invited to attend an NWIFTV event hosted March 10, 2023, featuring a panel of accomplished industry professionals.
The application period begins on November 1, 2022. The final day for submissions will be February 7, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. (PST).
